Confession: My DIY candle venture turned into a money pit
So I got into making candles a few months back, thinking it'd be a cheap creative outlet. Boy, was I wrong lol. The wax, wicks, and fancy scents cost way more than I budgeted for. I dropped over a hundred bucks before my first candle even set. Then, I kept burning them too fast at home tests, wasting all that effort. It hit me that adulting means your fun projects can sneak up on your finances real quick. Now I'm way more careful with my spending on hobbies, but the trial runs are kinda fun. Still, seeing my bank statement after a craft store trip is a whole mood.

Wait, you burned through your test candles? That's like setting cash on fire!

Actually, that initial investment is how you buy a real skill, not just a hobby. You're learning what works through trial and error, which is priceless. Plus, once you dial it in, your custom candles beat store prices anyway.

Pour money into this and you'll waste a lot on messed up batches. Store candles cost less and you know they'll work.

Calling it a 'real skill' seems a bit much... it's just making candles, not solving world hunger. Trial and error sounds nice until you're staring at another lumpy mess that won't burn right. All that time and money for something you can grab at the store for ten bucks. Feels like you're just buying into a trend instead of learning something deep.
