I turned my kitchen into a science experiment gone wrong

I tried to unclog the sink with baking soda and vinegar because a website said it was easy. It fizzed up so much that foam poured out all over the counter and floor. I grabbed every towel I owned to soak up the mess, but the smell was like a bad school project. Then the drain made a gurgling noise and backed up even worse. I had to call a plumber who charged me extra for the holiday weekend. He told me I should have just used a plunger. My cat refused to come into the kitchen for two days. Now I have a stack of soggy towels and a lesson in not believing everything online.

Sometimes a basic plunger works better than those fancy methods.

So what's the fancy method that failed you, @jackson.faith? Gotta know what to avoid.

Honestly I was the same, always looking for a clever hack instead of just doing the simple thing. That baking soda volcano mess is exactly why I stopped. Now I keep a cheap plunger under every sink and it has never failed me. The internet makes everything seem more complicated than it needs to be.

Oh man, was it really that bad though? At least you didn't have to buy any weird chemicals. How much extra did the plumber charge you?
