My 401k statement showed a number I never thought I'd see
Opened the quarterly email yesterday, half expecting the usual small print. The balance read $87,342. That's more than I paid for my first house. It didn't feel real, just a big number on a screen. It's weird when the 'someday' money starts to look like actual money. Has anyone else had a moment where a savings number just didn't compute?

Remember when I thought that money was just a boring number?

Ever see someone's whole view on money flip in a second? My friend got his first real tax return, like a couple grand, and just stared at his bank app. He said it went from being points in a game to "oh, this is why people stress about rent". It made him get super into budgeting apps, which is a trip. Kinda like what you're saying, @mason_lopez, how it stops being just a number and starts meaning things.
