My car got towed from the Trader Joe's lot on Saturday and the fee was $285

I ran in for literally 10 minutes to grab milk and eggs, came out and my car was gone from the lot on Elm Street. Nobody told me they tow cars after 15 minutes during peak hours, and the sign was hidden behind a tree branch. I had to pay $285 cash at a lot across town and missed my nephew's birthday party because of it. Now I'm scared to park anywhere that has a sign I can't read clearly. Has this happened to anyone else, and did you ever get the money back?
