My neighbor said something about her lawn that made me feel weird about my own place
She mentioned she hasn't watered her grass in Phoenix all summer because it's just too expensive, and now I'm looking at my own water bill and my brown patches totally differently. Anyone else feel guilty about trying to keep up with basic home stuff when money's tight?

Right? @spencer782 has a point.

Yeah spencer782 said it, "brutal choice between your wallet and your lawn." My friend Jenna tried to do the whole brown is the new green thing last year but then got a note from her HOA. So now she's watering just enough to keep them off her back but still watches her bill go up every month.

Honestly, that's not really about keeping up with the neighbors though. It's just a brutal choice between your wallet and your lawn.

Disagree. It's totally about keeping up. See it all the time. People feel the pressure when every other yard looks perfect. That pressure makes the choice feel brutal. It's not just a simple money vs grass thing. The social part is a huge factor.
