My neighbor's kid asked me what my hobby is and I couldn't answer
Was talking to this 10 year old who lives next door while I was taking out trash. He asked what I do for fun. I stood there for like 20 seconds trying to think of something. Not work, not chores, not scrolling my phone. Just something I actually choose to do. I told him I fix things around the house and he looked at me like I was the saddest person he'd ever met. Has anyone else realized they don't actually have hobbies anymore?

That moment of blankness hits hard. Happened to me last year when someone asked what I do on weekends. Realized my life was just work, groceries, and staring at a screen. Most of us lose the hobbies somewhere between paying bills and keeping the house from falling apart.

That whole "lost the hobbies somewhere between paying bills" line really nails it. But I gotta say, for a lot of people it's less about losing hobbies and more like they never really had solid ones to begin with. If your only interests were Netflix and scrolling, there wasn't much to lose. It's hard to miss something you never really put time into.

Read something the other day about how hobbies are basically "unproductive time spent alone." Made me think. Most people just fill that space with distractions now, not actual hobbies. That kid saw right through it though, kids are brutally honest.
