PSA: I paid $60 for a rice cooker that beeps at me like it's mad, and I finally found out why
Last month my old $20 rice cooker from the grocery store finally died after roughly four years of service, so I went to a kitchen store here in Charlotte and grabbed one that was $60. I figured it would just be the same thing but nicer. Instead, this thing beeps three loud times every single time it finishes, and the beep is so sharp it honestly sounds angry. I checked the manual and apparently you can't turn the beep off, which feels like a personal attack. My kids now yell "rice is ready" from the other room every time they hear it, which is funny exactly once. I even tried putting a folded towel over the vent to muffle it and that just made the rice gummy. Does anyone know if there's a way to open these things up and yank the little speaker out, or am I stuck living with a kitchen appliance that yells at me?
