Serious question, has anyone else had a total plumbing disaster right before guests arrive?

I was in my kitchen in Denver last Tuesday when the pipe under the sink burst, spraying water everywhere just 20 minutes before my in-laws were supposed to come over for dinner, so I had to frantically shut off the main valve, throw down every towel I owned, and order expensive pizza instead.

Yeah, I was all about that DIY hero stuff too until this.

Used to think a quick fix with plumber's tape was enough for any leak. Seeing that pipe blow apart and soak my whole kitchen floor changed my mind completely. Now I shut off the water and call a pro right away, no more DIY hero stuff.
