Showerthought: I used to write letters by hand, now I answer texts in three words
Cleaning out the garage last month I found a shoebox of letters my buddy Mike sent me from boot camp back in 2004, and I sat on the floor reading all 14 of them. He wrote pages about nothing, the food, a guy in his unit from Tulsa, how much he missed his truck. Now we text maybe twice a month and it is all 'you good' and 'yeah you'. I am not saying texts are bad, I just miss when saying nothing took half an hour and a stamp. Does anyone else have a box of old letters they cannot bring themselves to throw out?
Got a whole drawer of them and my handwriting has gone so bad I couldn't write one back if I tried. My kid asked what a stamp is last year, so that was humbling.
