The laundromat at 2am broke my folding system for good

I used to be a neat folder, towels perfect squares, shirts stacked by color. Then last Tuesday my dryer died mid-cycle and I had to drag three damp loads to the 24-hour place on 5th street. Some guy left his basketball shorts in a machine and I stood there for 20 minutes watching them spin, too tired to move them. By the time I got home at 3am, I just shoved everything in the closet and slept on the couch. Now I can't even look at a fitted sheet without getting annoyed. Why do we pretend folding matters when nobody sees the inside of my drawer anyway? Has anyone else just given up on laundry rules after one rough night?

MAN, you watched some stranger's shorts spin for TWENTY MINUTES and decided that was the hill to die on? That's the part that got me. I would have tossed them on the floor after like 90 seconds, maybe left a passive aggressive note. My towels are all rectangle-ish blobs now too, after one night where my kid dumped every clean thing on the floor to find one specific sock. I just shove everything in baskets now and call it "organized chaos".
