The oil change that turned into a 4 hour job because of one stripped bolt
Decided to change the oil on my old F-150 last Saturday. Should have been 30 minutes tops, including cleanup. The drain plug was cross-threaded from the last shop that touched it, and I spent almost an hour just figuring out why it wouldn't seat right. Then the bolt snapped and I had to run to AutoZone twice for an extractor set. By the time I got it drilled out and re-tapped, the sun was gone and I was eating cold pizza in the driveway at 10pm. Four hours for a 30 minute job, and I'm still finding oil spots on the concrete. Does anyone know a trick for catching a cross-thread before you start cranking on it?
