Vent: I sat in my car in the Target parking lot last Tuesday for 45 minutes because I couldn't decide if I was actually tired or just avoiding going inside
It was like 10pm and I had one thing to get, just one, but I kept telling myself I'd go in after this song ended and then another song started. I finally realized I wasn't tired at all, I was just dreading walking past the empty registers and having that bored teenager look at me like I was weird for shopping that late. Then I started thinking about all the other times I've done this, like at the Kroger on 5th street back in March, and how I've probably wasted actual hours of my life sitting in parking lots not doing the thing I came to do. Does anyone else do this or am I just losing it at 32?
Oh man, yes, I do this constantly and it drives me nuts. Mine is the Walmart lot on Route 9, I'll sit there telling myself I'm resting my eyes when really I'm just scared of the self checkout machines yelling at me. The weird part is once I actually get inside it takes like four minutes and I feel stupid for all the sitting. Your thing about the bored teenager is so real too, that dead eyed stare when you walk in at 10pm makes you feel like a criminal buying toothpaste. You're not losing it, 32 is prime parking lot philosopher age, we just have too much time to think before the errand.
