A librarian in Tulsa showed me an AI tool that reads old newspapers and it floored me
Last Tuesday I was at the Tulsa library killing time before a shift and an older librarian named Pat waved me over to her screen. She typed a name into this AI tool that scans old newspaper pages and it pulled up a 1912 article about my great grandpa's hardware store in about 4 seconds. I've spent maybe 20 hours squinting at microfilm before and never found half of what that thing showed me in one afternoon. She shrugged and said the machine reads the blurry print better than her eyes do now. Does anyone know if these text reader tools work on old church records too, because I have a box of them from my mom's side?
