Am I the only one who noticed AI translation bots keep butchering local slang?
I was browsing a local forum for my town in Texas and saw this new AI translation tool trying to convert a post about "fixing a busted water heater before the freeze hit." It turned "fixing a busted" into "repairing a broken" and completely dropped the urgency. My buddy runs a small shop that uses AI chatbots for customer service, and he told me last month that his Spanish language bot keeps translating "we can get that done pronto" into formal Spanish that sounds like a robot lawyer. It totally misses how people actually talk day to day. I work with patients who code-switch between English and Spanish all the time, and if an AI can't catch that, it's going to come off as cold or confusing. Has anyone else seen AI tools mess up regional phrases in their town? What did you do about it?

Honestly, is this really a huge deal though? People still understand what's meant even if the bot gets the slang wrong.

Oh, totally agree, who even cares if the bot says "yeet" weirdly, it's just funny?
