Can we talk about how I fixed my messy photo collection with a simple folder system?
I had like 10,000 random photos from my phone and old cameras just sitting in one big folder on my desktop. After watching a tutorial from a guy in Portland, I tried sorting them by year then event, like "2023 - Trip to Lake Tahoe." It took about 4 hours over a weekend, but now I can actually find stuff from 5 years ago in seconds. Has anyone else tried a naming trick that made their file mess way easier?

Oh man, that exact trick changed everything for me too. My photos were a disaster until I started naming folders like "2022 - Beach Trip" and "2022 - Christmas Party." Now I can scroll right to what I need without crying at my computer. What do you do for photos that don't fit a clear event, like random daily shots?

... and that's exactly why I gave up on folders altogether and just dumped everything into one big "Pictures" folder. Now I just hit search and type "beach" and hope for the best. It's chaotic but it works.

Wait, am I the only one who thinks sorting by year first makes it HARDER to find stuff? I just name my folders by what's actually in them, like "Beach photos 2020s" or "Christmas decorations." No year first, no hierarchy. I can search my files in like 2 seconds using the search bar, so I don't get why people spend hours organizing when the computer does it for you.
