Debate: Should AI handle customer service or leave it to humans?
Last week my bank used an AI chatbot to resolve a billing error and it fixed it in 2 minutes flat, but then 3 years ago I spent an hour on the phone with an AI that couldn't understand my accent from Texas and I hung up furious. Some people swear AI is faster and cheaper for support, while others say it misses the human connection when things get complicated. Which side do you lean on for routine issues like refunds or account changes?

My bank's app has a chatbot that handled a fraudulent charge refund in about 90 seconds last month. No fuss, no hold music, just a confirmation number and the money back in my account two days later. But when my internet provider's AI kept telling me to restart my router for an outage that was clearly on their end, I ended up yelling at my phone in the driveway. For simple stuff like refunds or changing an address, AI works fine for me. Once you get past two options deep on a troubleshooting tree, I want a person who can actually say "yeah that sounds broken, let me fix it.

@allen.kai Internet AI just wants you to restart your life, huh?

My own accent has caused more than one AI to just give up and pass me to a human who probably needed a translator for my "southern drawl mixed with mumbling." For something simple like checking a balance or resetting a password, machine does fine, but if I have to explain why the error is on their side, I want a tired human who gets it. Guess I'm the middle ground where AI handles the easy stuff and I get transferred when I start yelling at my phone in the driveway.
