Hot take: AI code assistants are making new devs less curious about debugging
I noticed last year when I started letting Copilot write most of my functions, I stopped digging into why errors happen. A junior on my team spent 2 hours on a bug last week that would have taught him a ton if he'd traced it himself. Do we really want tools that skip the learning part?

And here I thought the whole point of being a dev was getting paid to bang your head against a wall for three days only to find out you missed a semicolon. If you take away the soul-crushing debugging, what's even left? Might as well be a real job where you actually produce something useful instead of starring at error messages like they're ancient runes. Copilot's just the new version of that kid in school who handed over calculator answers instead of showing the work. Eventually you graduate and realize the only thing you learned is how to copy and paste without having a clue what any of it means.
