I accidentally fixed my AI image generator's weird hands problem with a simple prompt change

Was getting those cursed 6-finger hands in every render until I added 'symmetrical and natural hand anatomy' to the negative prompt. Worked on like 80% of outputs after that. Has anyone else found a weird prompt trick that just clicked?

All you did was get lucky with a prompt tweak. You didn't actually fix the underlying problem with the model. The hands are still going to come out weird half the time you just found a band-aid that works for now. That same phrase is probably going to stop working next week when the model gets updated or when you try it on a different subject. People get too caught up in chasing these magic word combos instead of just learning to inpaint or manually fix the bad hands.

I used to think hand anatomy was just one of those things AI could never get right and I had given up on it honestly. I spent weeks trying every fix I could find online and nothing worked. But after reading your post I went and added that exact phrase to my negative prompt and holy crap it actually helped. My last batch of renders had way fewer creepy extra fingers and the hands actually looked human. It's not perfect but it's a huge step up from what I was getting before. I'm surprised something so simple made such a difference.

Has a friend of yours ever tried something like this and gotten similar results? One of the guys from my old photography group was struggling with hands in his AI portrait work for months. He tried everything from different sampler settings to training his own LoRA and nothing helped. I told him about what @linda114 said here and he added that negative prompt phrase. He texted me later that night saying his last batch looked like actual people instead of alien hand monsters. Not perfect either but way better than before.
