I finally saw the AI sorting line at a recycling plant in Akron and it was wild to watch
I toured a recycling plant in Akron last Tuesday and they had a robotic arm sorting plastic by type using a camera setup. The guy running it said it pulls out about 60 items a minute, which is way faster than the two people who used to stand there. What got me was how it learned the shapes over time instead of being told what to grab. Has anyone seen one of these run in person and know what happens when a weird item shows up?
