My simple habit tracker went from useless to gold after one change

I've tried tracking habits on and off for years and always gave up after like 2 weeks. Last month I switched from tracking everything in a fancy app to just writing one line a day in a pocket notebook. Turns out the friction of opening the app was what was killing me. Has anyone else found that simpler tools just work better for them?

I was all in on digital but you're right. Paper works way better for me now.

You were all in on digital" - that phrase always makes me chuckle. People act like choosing between paper and digital is up there with buying a house or deciding where to send your kids to school. It's just notebooks. I've got both kicking around my desk and they both work fine. Sometimes I grab the legal pad, sometimes I type something out. The world keeps spinning either way.

The pocket notebook trick is real - I finally stuck with a workout log when I switched to a single index card in my back pocket. No app can beat the zero-second commitment of grabbing a pen and paper.
