Spent 3 hours trying to get an AI art generator to make a simple cartoon dog

I needed a goofy cartoon dog for a buddy's birthday card, nothing fancy. Three hours later I had 50 creepy mutants with five legs instead of one decent pooch. Does anyone else spend way more time wrestling with AI tools than the actual task is worth?

Agree, spent longer fixing its six legged cat than drawing one from scratch.

Ended up spending two whole hours tweaking the AI's attempt at a hand with seven fingers before I just gave up and drew it myself in ten minutes. The worst part was that the original drawing looked like a confused alien octopus, and no matter how many times I regenerated it just kept getting more terrifying. Pretty sure I lost a few brain cells staring at that abomination trying to fix the proportions lol.

Oh man, that's rough. My record is two hours of wrestling with an AI for a simple sunset background before I gave up and used a filter from my phone's photo app in 30 seconds. Solidarity on those lost brain cells, seriously.

Oh wow, that really hits home for me. I used to think AI tools were basically magic and could do anything, but @betty_kelly9 your story about the sunset background just opened my eyes. I honestly changed my mind after reading that because it reminded me of all the times I fought with those generators for simple stuff. The whole "two hours for a sunset" thing is EXACTLY what happens to me with text generation too. It's like the AI just doesn't get what "simple" means half the time. Now I just laugh at myself for ever thinking these things would save me time on basic tasks.
