The AI transcription tool I trashed for a year actually saves me 2 hours a week now

I used to swear by manual note taking during client calls and thought AI transcription was just a gimmick. Then I tried Otter.ai on a whim during a messy 45 minute Zoom meeting last month and it caught every detail perfectly, even the mumbling. The search feature is what really sold me, I can type one keyword and it pulls up the exact timestamp. Now I use it for all my project meetings and my coworker asked how I stopped missing action items. Has anyone else had a tool that flopped for them at first but clicked later after they changed how they used it?

Hold on, dont give Otter all the credit for catching mumbling. Its actually the mic quality that does most of the heavy lifting there. I found that out when I tried using it with a cheap headset and it missed half the conversation, then switched to my laptops built in mic and it was night and day. The keyword search is solid though, that part definitely clicked for me after I stopped trying to make it replace my notes and just used it for quick lookups during follow ups.
