Air fryer salmon changed my mind about frozen fish

I always thought frozen fish would turn out mushy or dry in the air fryer, no matter what. Last Tuesday I tried a bag of frozen salmon fillets from Costco, $12 for a 2 pound bag, and threw one in at 380 degrees for 12 minutes. To my surprise, it came out flaky and moist with a crispy edge, not soggy at all. Now I keep a bag in the freezer for quick dinners instead of planning around fresh fish. Has anyone else had good luck with frozen fish in their air fryer?

Yeah you gotta go straight from freezer to air fryer, no thawing at all. I pat mine dry with a paper towel first then do 375 for 11-12 minutes and it comes out perfect every time.

Wait, you're telling me I actually have a chance at those "emergency salmon" dinners I've been seeing in my freezer for three months? Guess I owe my neglected Costco bag an apology.

Gotta be careful with the packaging though. Some of those frozen filets come on a little styrofoam tray that you definitely don't want in the air fryer (learned that one the hard way, melted plastic smell for days). Also worth checking if it's preseasoned or plain, because the preseasoned ones can get salty if you add extra. My trick is to flip them halfway through and give them a tiny spritz of lemon juice right at the end, keeps them from drying out.
