Burnt my whole dinner party batch of wings because I skipped the shake halfway
Was hosting a small get together last Saturday, about 6 of us. Threw 3 pounds of wings in the air fryer basket, piled them up high to save time. Set it for 25 minutes at 380 like usual. Came back and the top layer was black and the bottom was still raw. Had to scrape off the edible ones and finish them in the oven while everyone stood around. My buddy Jeff said 'you gotta shake the basket every 8 minutes, man.' I never bothered with that before for small batches but now I get it. Anybody else have a failure from overloading the basket too much?

Ever check your air fryer model's capacity rating? Mine says 5 quarts, but cramming 3 pounds of wings in there basically blocked all the airflow. The top burned because heat couldn't escape, bottom stayed raw. I ruined a 2 pound batch of drumsticks the same way last month. Now I do wings in a single layer, maybe 1.5 pounds max, and shake every 8 minutes like clockwork.

Gotta disagree here honestly, I've crammed my 5 quart basket full of wings plenty of times and they came out perfect with just a good shake halfway through. Maybe your model runs hotter than mine or you're not flipping them right lol.

Totally feel you @the_wendy, I've had the same disaster with a packed basket.
