I bought a $35 'air fryer liner' set that melted into my basket...
Some folks say liners are a must for easy cleanup, but mine just made a huge mess and wasted money. It was a silicone set from a big box store, and it warped at 400 degrees. Anyone have a liner brand that actually holds up, or should I just skip them?

So have you tried the parchment paper ones instead of silicone? I know they sound flimsy but I had the same exact problem with my silicone liners from Walmart (they got all melty and left a gross film). I switched to the unbleached parchment liners from Reynolds, the precut round ones for air fryers, and they actually hold up fine at 400 degrees. They get a little crispy on the edges but they don't melt or warp on you. Just make sure you don't let them hang over the edges of the basket too much, and weigh them down with food. I also found that buying the large sheets of parchment and cutting my own circles is way cheaper than the precut ones, even if it takes a few seconds to trim them.

My $20 silicone liners from Target did the exact same thing last month. Honestly, it left this awful melted plastic film all over the basket that took forever to scrape off. Tbh I just gave up and went back to using a little spray of oil and a quick wash. It feels like those liners just can't handle the real high heat settings.

My cousin's air fryer basket got the same weird film, but from cheap frozen fries.

Yeah, that melted plastic film is the worst. @lindag33, it's like those liners promise an easy clean up but then they leave a bigger mess than the actual food would have. I tried one once and it warped into a weird taco shape halfway through cooking. Now I just accept that scrubbing the basket is part of the air fryer deal. The high heat really does a number on anything that isn't metal.
