Tried making frozen fries without preheating the air fryer last week
I was rushing after work on Tuesday and just tossed a bag of crinkle cuts in cold. They came out all soggy and uneven, took twice as long to cook. Does preheating really make that big a difference or did I just get a bad batch?

Preheating is one of those things that sounds like extra work but actually saves you time in the long run... like letting your car warm up on a cold morning. You throw those fries in a cold basket and the oil just sits there soaking in instead of instantly sizzling. Same thing happens with leftover pizza or even chicken nuggets if you don't let the machine get hot first. It's the little steps people skip because they think it doesn't matter, but then they end up with a mess and twice the cleanup.

Lol @lewis.terry you're spot on. I tried to rush some frozen onion rings once and threw them in cold and they came out looking like sad greasy worms instead of crispy rings. Huge mess, oil everywhere. Now I just let my air fryer sit and get hot while I grab the food from the freezer. Takes like 2 minutes extra but saves me from eating cardboard later.
