Remember thinking my grandpa was nuts for putting salt in his coffee. Tried it once when we ran out of creamer and it actually cuts the bitterness. Makes you wonder how many other weird old tricks actually work. We just dismiss stuff before giving it a real shot.

My grandma swore by putting a pinch of salt in her oatmeal, and she was right. So much old advice gets written off as nonsense.

Grandma swore by putting a pinch of salt in her oatmeal" - I mean, sure, that's a solid little hack for flavor, but let's not pretend it's on the same level as a trick that could save you a few thousand bucks in aircraft repairs. Salt in oatmeal is basically common sense cooking, not some ancient wisdom that challenges our whole worldview. People get real dramatic about grandma's tips, but half the time it's just "hey, this thing tastes better with salt in it.
