Found some old steel brake discs while organizing the back shelf.

We used to just scrap them with everything else, no questions asked. These days, I hear shops are sending them off to be melted down and reused. Is your place actually doing this, or is it more talk than action?

My mechanic in Tacoma switched to a recycling service for brake discs last fall. They have a specific container now, and it gets picked up every other week. It's actually working, from what I can tell.

That container system sounds smart, @karens12. My friend's shop tried a pickup service too, but the bin kept getting mixed up with regular scrap metal. They gave up on it after a few months lol.

So they just gave up on the whole pickup service because of the bin mix-up?

My cousin's auto shop guy saves all his scrap metal in an old oil drum. He claims it pays for his fishing trips twice a year. Do you think the recycling company actually gives a fair price for that stuff?
