Had the worst Monday of my career last month at SFO
Ngl, I've been doing this for almost 12 years now and that day was something else. Got called in at 4am for a hydraulic leak on a 737, found the wrong part in the bin, had to wait 3 hours for the right one. Then someone left a coffee cup in the fuel bay from the night shift and I had to do a whole extra inspection. Honestly, the whole shift turned into a 14 hour mess. Has anyone else had a single day where everything just piled up like that?

Honestly, that coffee cup thing is a maintenance control issue, not a line mechanic's fault.

Yeah "maintenance control issue" is exactly right, they're the ones who clear deferred items not us.

Maintenance control has the final say on what gets deferred, so they should own the paperwork on coffee cup stuff too. @piper_kim is right that line mechanics shouldn't be stuck chasing that when it's not your call. Just document it clearly and hand it off once you flag it, that covers your tail.
