I finally beat that stubborn 737 cargo door latch after 3 hours

Had a 737 come in last Tuesday with a cargo door that wouldn't close all the way. Thought it was just a misaligned latch, so I figured 30 minutes tops. Three hours later I found the real issue: a tiny crack in the actuator arm that only showed up under a 10x magnifier. Ended up replacing the whole assembly and retesting the seals. Has anyone else spent way too long on a problem that turned out to be a hairline crack in something you'd never expect?

@riley_wood84 yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about. Those tiny cracks are like trouble hiding in plain sight. I've noticed it with house stuff too - a small split in a pipe fitting that you'd never see until water's everywhere. Three hours on a latch seems wild but the little things always bite you hardest.

Had a DC-10 door actuator crack on me once in 2018. Four hours chasing ghosts. Your mileage may vary but those hairline cracks are sneaky.

Found the crack with a 10x magnifier? What kind of lighting were you using, because I feel like that makes or breaks finding that stuff.
