I spent $190 on a borescope with a screen and went right back to the cheap one that plugs into my phone
Bought a $190 standalone borescope in March because I figured the built in screen would be way easier to hold up in a wheel well, but the picture was grainy and the tip was too fat to get past the first stage vanes on a PT6. My $32 phone camera one reaches further, records straight to my roll, and I can text a clip to the rep while I'm still standing on the ladder. What do you all actually run for compressor inspections, or is there one under $100 that's worth it?
Standalone scopes are a waste of money for this work. The tip diameter is what kills you every time, and every all in one unit I have tried has a fat head. My phone scope was 30 bucks and it fits places the expensive ones will not go. Cheap and thin beats fancy and blind.
