Overheard a pilot at the FBO say 'a clean airplane is a happy airplane'
Honestly, it clicked that he wasn't just talking about looks, but how grime can hide corrosion or fluid leaks. How do you guys build a quick wash into your routine without the crew groaning?

Used to think it was just about looks too. Then I missed a small oil streak on a wheel pant that turned into a bigger leak. Now we do a quick walk-around with a rag while the tanks are filling. Wipe down the belly and gear, check for anything wet. Takes five minutes and you catch stuff before it becomes a real problem.

Five minutes saved you from a big leak?

My buddy Dave at the hangar last month walked around his 172 while fueling and found a small weep on the fuel drain line. He dabbed it with a rag and saw it was definitely wet, not just condensation, so he tightened the clamp and saved himself a mess. Took him maybe four minutes and he said it felt stupidly simple but he'd have missed it without that quick look.
