Overheard an apprentice say torque wrenches don't need calibration
Was walking through the hangar yesterday and heard a 2nd year tell a new guy that torque wrenches are basically fine forever. Said his old mentor never sent them out. My blood ran cold, you know? I've seen a mis-torqued bolt cause a 15k dollar engine removal on a 737 just last month. A simple check can cost like 50 bucks at most shops. How are we still hearing this kind of advice in 2024? Has anyone else had to correct a junior mechanic on this?

Idk, does that apprentice realize he's basically gambling with other people's lives?
