Snapped a torque wrench on a control rod bolt this morning

I was torquing a bolt on a Cessna 172 control rod at the hangar in Tulsa around 8 AM when the wrench just gave out with a loud crack. Turned out the calibration sticker was from 2019 and nobody had checked it in three years. How often do you guys send your torque wrenches out for calibration?

Calibration stickers from 2019... seems like nobody bothers with the little things until something breaks. Same thing happens with my kitchen scale at home, the battery dies mid-recipe and then I'm scrambling for a backup. It's like the universe has this way of reminding you that maintenance is a thing, but only after you've already screwed something up.

Snapping mine in 2018 taught me to check every six months now.
