The 40 dollar borescope that saved me an engine tear down

Picked up a cheap borescope on Amazon last month to check a suspected crack in a Lycoming cylinder wall on a Bonanza out of Oshkosh. Turned out it was just a carbon streak, so I avoided a 12 hour job that would've cost the owner over 6 grand in parts and labor. Anyone else ever had a cheap tool pay for itself that fast, or am I just lucky?

That carbon streak story hits close to home. My buddy thought he had a scored cylinder on his Cessna last spring, same deal, cheap scope saved him from pulling the jug for nothing. He still keeps that thing in his toolbox and brags about it every time we hang out.
