The hot glue trick for safety wire that saved my knuckles last Friday
After fighting a #4 safety wire on a Cessna cowl latch for 20 minutes in the hangar at KBFI, I dipped the wire end in hot glue, twisted it tight, and the wire stayed put perfectly, so has anyone else tried using a dab of adhesive to hold stubborn wire while you get the pliers set?

Did you learn that trick the hard way too, or did some old A&P finally take pity on you? I spent a solid half hour last month chasing a length of .032 around the hangar floor because I sneezed while trying to get the twister seated, and my knuckles looked like I lost a fight with a cheese grater. The hot glue deal makes sense though, it gives you that little handle to hold tension while your other hand gets the pliers on straight. I might try a dab of RTV instead since I always have a tube open, but glue sounds like it sets up faster and won't smear all over the latch.
