Took me 3 and a half weeks to find a chafed wire behind a panel I'd already opened twice
Chasing an intermittent AP disconnect on a King Air, I pulled that kick panel three separate times and kept signing it off as ops check good because it never faulted on the ground. Turned out the wire was rubbing on a rib only when the cabin heated up, and a $4 loom clamp plus 20 minutes of rerouting fixed it. What's your go-to trick for finding those heat or vibration gremlins that only show up in flight?
Man, three and a half weeks on a chafed wire? I get that intermittent stuff is annoying but at some point you gotta ask if it was really worth all that. A $4 clamp and 20 minutes is great and all, but how many hours did you burn pulling that panel over and over? I've seen guys chase stuff like this for weeks when a wiggle test with the heat gun on the ground would've shown it in an afternoon.
