Took me 45 minutes to realize I was looking at the wrong access panel on a CRJ-200
I spent forever trying to find a hydraulic leak on the right main gear, only to discover it was a 20 year old coffee stain from a previous mechanic's cup. Has anyone else chased a phantom problem that turned out to be nothing?

Dude I once chased a "bad sensor" for two hours just a spider web.

Used to roll my eyes at that one, now I check the sensor first thing.

That "just a spider web" line from @dakota415 hits way too close to home. I've learned to always clear the area and do a quick visual inspection before diving into diagnostics, saves so much time. Once you've been burned by a cobweb or coffee stain a few times, checking the basics first becomes second nature.
