Wasted $400 on a 'universal' torque wrench adapter that snapped on a 737 gear pin
The thing sheared clean off during a routine check, and now I'm out the cash plus two hours of downtime. Anyone know a solid brand for those specific high-torque applications?

Ouch, that's rough. But honestly, how much torque are you putting on a gear pin? Seems like a weird spot for a failure.

Could it be a material flaw instead of just torque? Sometimes a bad batch of steel or a tiny crack you can't see causes this. That would explain why it broke in such an unusual spot.

Check the photo again, lewis.terry, that pin is way too small for the load it took. The shear stress must have been huge right before it let go.
