Heard a customer in Dallas say they'd rather have a loud siren than a silent alarm call to the police. Made me think about what people actually want from a system.

My uncle had a silent alarm at his old shop and it was a total mess. The cops took forever to show up and the thieves were already gone with the register. A blaring siren might have scared them off right away. People just want something that actually stops the crime in progress, not just a report after the fact. A loud noise gets everyone's attention and makes the bad guys panic. That immediate reaction is probably what the customer was talking about.

Yeah my neighbor's car alarm goes off if you breathe on it wrong.

Totally get the point about a loud siren scaring them off. My old truck had a crazy loud alarm and it definitely made a guy drop my tools and run once. That immediate panic is what you want.
