Heard a homeowner say 'my system is too loud' and it clicked something for me
Was at a job in a quiet neighborhood in Columbus last week, doing a panel swap for an older Vista 20p. The lady said her siren woke up the whole block every time she forgot the code. Made me realize we focus so much on the tech side we forget the human side of things. Do you guys ever ask customers about noise concerns before you spec out the system?

Did she really wake up the whole block like that?

Oh absolutely, she did. I once tried to do the same thing but my alarm is set to a gentle bird chirp, and I woke up the entire block of finches outside my window instead. They were not pleased. I got a stern chirp back, which is basically the bird version of a noise complaint. Made me wonder if my own neighbors would prefer that over my off-key shower singing. Have you ever accidentally started a neighborhood choir at 6 AM?

Ngl I felt that in my bones. I once set up a system for a guy who specifically asked for the loudest siren money could buy, and then his wife yelled at him for three days straight after it went off during a test while their newborn was napping. So yeah I learned the hard way to ask about noise concerns before I even pull out a screwdriver. I've got the exact opposite problem now where I start every conversation with "so how much do you want to annoy your neighbors?" which is honestly not the best sales pitch either. At least I'm not accidentally starting a bird revolt like the lisa over here though.
