I finally stopped using screw terminals after that church job in July
Was doing a full system install at St. Mary's near downtown. Old stone walls, really tight spaces. Had to mount 12 sensors in the basement and kept losing grip on those tiny screws. After the 4th one dropped into a crack in the concrete I said forget it and switched over to push-in connectors. Saved me at least 45 minutes. Anyone else had a job that made you switch up your go-to method?

Did you ever find out what kind of adhesive they used on the old wires? I ran into a similar problem at a school where the screw terminals had some weird gooey residue that made everything stick together. It turned out the previous guy used an industrial strength tape wrap that had basically melted over time. The push-ins saved me there too, but I wish I'd known about the residue thing before I spent an hour scraping each terminal clean. Makes you wonder what shortcuts the next person will find with our work, right?
