PSA: The difference in panel battery life after switching to a new brand is crazy

I had a panel from a job in Oak Park that would need a new battery every 14 months like clockwork, which was a pain for the customer. I swapped it for a different brand six months ago and just checked it yesterday, the voltage is still perfect. Has anyone else seen this big a jump in reliability with a specific brand?

Man, that's wild. Fourteen months is such a specific pain. Really makes you wonder what they're putting in some of those batteries.

My buddy had a similar thing happen with a smoke detector battery. He said it started chirping at exactly 3 in the morning, like clockwork, for a solid week before he finally gave in and changed it. Turns out the thing had a manufacturing date stamped on it that was like four years old already. You gotta wonder if they're just sitting in a warehouse getting old before they even hit the store shelf.

It's crazy how common this is with all kinds of stuff now. I bought a pack of light bulbs last year and half of them were dead on arrival, probably sat in a box for ages. Feels like we're just buying old stock that nobody else wanted.
