Shoutout to the homeowner who watched me drill 3 holes before asking if I had a stud finder
House on Maple Street last month, I was mounting a motion sensor in the hallway and she stood there the whole time without saying a word. She finally told me the drywall was paper thin from 1962 and I'd hit a water line if I kept going. Anyone else have clients who wait until you are mid job to share the house's secrets?
Man, I used to think homeowners just didn't know their own houses. Figured they hired me so they could zone out and let me do my thing. Then I had this one lady in an old duplex who watched me cut into a wall for like ten minutes before mentioning the last guy found a nest of bees in that exact spot. Swear I almost dropped my saw. Now I always ask upfront about anything weird, hidden wires, old pipes, whatever. Learned that lesson the hard way, lol.
