Spent 2 years installing sensors backwards before a customer pointed it out
I was out at a house on Maple Street in Detroit last week replacing a faulty window sensor and the homeowner says 'Hey, isn't that arrow supposed to point toward the magnet?' I looked at my work, then at my van full of sensors all mounted the same way. Turns out every single recessed sensor I've done since I started has been flipped 180 degrees. Has anyone else had that embarrassing moment where a customer taught you something basic about your own gear?

Man at least your sensors still worked, mine would have probably been better off installed upside down since I clearly had no idea what I was doing. 😂 How many years before you redid all of them?

Right, two years of backwards sensors and nobody said a word. Either your coworkers were messing with you or they were just as lost as the sensors. 😂

Wait, how did none of your coworkers or whoever trained you catch this either? Like, did you install them for other people's houses or was it just your own work? That part's wild to me because in my experience someone always has an opinion on your installs. I've been doing this type of work for years and the number of times Ive had to eat crow because a homeowner spotted something obvious is honestly embarrassing. But two years of backwards sensors with nobody saying anything until now? That's either really good luck or really bad training at your company. Did you ever have to go back and fix all those old jobs or did you just start doing them right from that point forward?
