Switched from screw terminals to plug-in harnesses on my last big install

After 15 years of wiring every single zone with screw terminals, I tried those pre-made plug-in harnesses on a 32-zone panel in a commercial building last month and saved close to 4 hours of fiddling with tiny wires, has anyone else made the switch and found it worth the extra cost?

Honestly, that time savings sounds like a no-brainer once you're past the initial setup. Tbh, I switched to plug-in harnesses on a big install last year and it was a game changer for my wrists alone. Ngl, the extra cost upfront stings but it pays off in headache prevention.

Isn't that how it always goes with tools though? You pay more on the front end, but three months later you're not nursing a busted wrist or backtracking to fix sloppy work.

That 4-hour savings on 32 zones is almost exactly 7.5 minutes per zone which is huge when you're on a deadline. Nobody's talking about the troubleshooting advantage either, being able to swap a single harness in 30 seconds beats digging out a screwdriver and re-terminating a loose connection. Makes service calls way less painful for the guy who comes after you.
