Switched from wired to wireless sensors after a nightmare job in Denver
Had this big house install last month in Denver where I spent two full days just running wire through the attic. Crawling around in 130 degree heat up there, sweating through my shirt, pulling cable for all the door and window contacts. Halfway through I realized I could have finished the whole thing in 5 hours with wireless sensors. Never thought they were reliable enough but after that job I grabbed a Honeywell wireless kit and tested it on my own place. Worked perfect for three weeks straight. Anyone else made the jump and regretted not doing it sooner?

Those new Honeywell units are solid as long as you remember to change the batteries when the alarm goes off, cause a dead sensor mid-summer is a huge pain.

Switched to the lithium batteries after that happened to me last July. They last way longer and I don't have to worry about the low battery chirp in the middle of the night. Also marked the change date right on the thermostat with a sharpie so I remember when to swap them out.

Dude, I feel your pain on that attic crawl. I had a similar moment last year in Phoenix where I was literally dripping sweat onto the drywall below me while running wires. Wireless seemed too good to be true until I finally tried a basic kit on my own house too. Now I’m kicking myself for all those extra hours I spent buried in fiberglass insulation for no reason. The reliability is solid if you just stay on top of the battery swap schedule, which is nothing compared to fishing wire. Total game changer.
