That attic heat in Austin cooked my keypad battery in 9 months
Installed a wireless keypad in a south-facing attic vent spot last June and it was dead by March, the heat in there has to be brutal. Any of you run into shorter battery life on gear mounted near roof vents, or do I just need to spec the extended temp models from here on?

11 months on a basic model in a Phoenix attic and mine's still kicking, so your battery issue sounds like a dud unit, not the heat. Unless you're hitting 140 degrees up there daily, the temp rating on most of those things is way overkill for Texas summers.

Wrapped mine in foil tape near the vent and got 2 years out of it, so yeah, that heat is definitely the killer.
