That one customer who wanted me to hide the keypad behind a painting
Had a guy in Denver last Tuesday insist I mount his alarm keypad behind a giant oil painting of a cat. He said he didn't want guests to see it. After I explained his fingerprints would smudge the frame and he'd have to move art every time he armed the system, he finally caved but asked for a false wall instead. Anyone else get wild decor requests that just make the job harder?

A FALSE WALL for a keypad? That's a whole different level of hiding things. What was his reasoning for not wanting guests to see it in the first place?

Man, hide the ugly thing. Those keypads stick out like a sore thumb and ruin the whole look of a nice entryway. My buddy hid his behind a little panel too, said it just looked cleaner and kept people from asking dumb questions every time they came over. Plus if you ever sell the house, you can make it a fun little secret for the next owner, or just leave it and they never have to deal with an ugly box on the wall.
