The day I learned I was mounting motion sensors way too low
I had this job in Phoenix last month where the homeowner's cat kept triggering the living room sensor every night around 2am. I must have adjusted the sensitivity five times before I realized the sensor was mounted at 5 feet instead of 7 feet like the manual says. Anyone else ever overlook the simple stuff because you get set in your ways?

Start yoga mats are actually a pretty common culprit, @rose_reed. I've seen them trip garage sensors more times than I can count. I mean, you'd think after the first one you'd catch on but nope. It's always something simple like that.

Oh man, that's such a classic gotcha. My buddy Dave had a similar thing happen at his house with a garage sensor. He was convinced the thing was haunted or something because it kept going off randomly at 3am. Turns out he had mounted it right above his wife's yoga mat station, and she'd get up early for stretching and set it off every single time. He said he felt like a total idiot when he finally figured it out, had to take it down and move it to a whole different spot in the garage. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes the answer is just that obvious.
